From the Principal – Mr John Finneran
It is with a sense of great excitement that students commenced the 2021 school year with access to the magnificent new St. John Henry Newman Learning Hub. This wonderful facility reflects our Vision for Learning Shine through Discovery – Let your light shine (Matthew 5:16) which animates our learning community to Challenge, Collaborate, Create and Celebrate who we are and what we seek to achieve. The new Learning Hub will encourages agility, movement and flexible learning environments to support a range of formal and informal learning activities, and provide opportunities for connections between the year groups, staff and the broader community. It has already become a learning area in which student demonstrate a sense of pride in their actions, and I am confident it will fuel the aspirations and hope for all students well into the future.
The College is committed to the enhancement of facilities across all year levels. Commencing in 2021, the College will develop a plan for the future relocation of the Early Childhood Education facility ‘Marian’ to our Churchlands site. In consultation with staff, students and the broader community, an Educational Brief will be developed by education specialist Jeff Phillips. The Educational Brief documents the aspirations, expectations and needs of the school community and establishes the educational priorities to be addressed in the masterplan.
We encourage our College community to support the development of the Educational Brief by completing the below survey by Friday 14th May, 2021. The perspectives of our community are important, and will be delivered to the College architect in support of their planning processes.
Newman College continues to strive to be a school of choice, with our commitment to refurbishing learning facilities central in providing an environment in which all students can reach their potential.
We look forward to providing you with further information via this web page as the project progresses.
