NEWMAN COLLEGE CONTINUES ITS INVESTMENT IN STATE-OF-THE-ART EDUCATION FACILITIES

Newman College is embarking on a once in a generation development that will see our Pre-Kindy to Year 12 community united for the first time in our history on a single campus. The program will see all learning and specialty areas of the primary school rebuilt to accommodate state of the art teaching and learning practices, in line with the College’s vision for learning ‘Shine through Discovery – Let your light shine’ (Matthew 5:16).

The staged development will see the creation of the following spaces during the next 3 years:

  • New Year 3 to Year 6 building
  • New administration building
  • Redevelopment of the existing buildings to accommodate Kindy to Year 2
  • Creation of new specialty areas including library, art, music, and STEM areas
  • New Pre-Kindy building
  • Covered playing court area
  • New outdoor play spaces

The integration of the primary campuses onto a single site will allow for greater access to the College’s considerable facilities, including the heated 50m Olympic size swimming pool, 600 seat auditorium featuring dance studios and instrumental rehearsal spaces, as well as multiple playing fields. Furthermore, the single site will allow for the consistent involvement of teacher leaders throughout the Pre-Kindy to Year 12 community.

Significant investment has been made at Newman College over the past several years to modernise and enhance the current learning environment for all students. The most recent award-winning project was that of the $8.5 mil Secondary school upgrade which saw a vision for state-of-the-art learning facilities come into fruition with the St John Henry Newman Learning Hub. This magnificent space opened at the commencement of the school year in 2021.

The Primary school redevelopment will see the continuation of the College’s commitment to excellence in providing all students with the facilities to ‘shine’. Our research driven designs provide students with flexible learning areas and breakout spaces to encourage collaboration, state-of-the-art audio-visual devices for project planning and presentation as well as dedicated quiet spaces for individual learning and study. The learning environment extends beyond the wall of the classroom and into specially designed collaborative works areas, and even into outdoor learning areas.
