We are delighted that you are considering Newman College as an option for your child’s education.

Our main intake years are Kindergarten and Year 7. We begin our enrolment process approximately:

  • Two years in advance for Kindergarten
  • Three years in advance for Year 7

The acceptance of an application does not guarantee an enrolment interview or subsequent offer of enrolment. Interviews are conducted by invitation at the discretion of the Principal, and in accordance with the College Enrolment Policy.

As part of this process, we will ask for some up-to-date information, including:

  • Your child’s most recent school report
  • NAPLAN results (if applicable)
  • A short questionnaire to be completed by your child
  • You may also wish to provide a Parish Reference. Templates are available to download from the main page of the Parent Portal when completing your application. Simply download the form and provide it to your Parish Priest to complete, who will return it directly to the school. Please note that Parish References must be dated within six months of submission.

Applications for all other year levels are also welcome and will progress as places become available.

Please note, we do not have a formal intake for Pre-Kindergarten. Pre-Kindergarten is offered as an additional option for families who have accepted a confirmed place in Kindergarten.

We encourage you to attend one of our tours so that you and your child might gain an insight into the College and what life at Newman College may look like for you and your child. Click here to register for a tour.

The first point of call for those families considering an enrolment is the Registrar at 9204 9412 or registrar@newman.wa.edu.au

Kindergarten and Year 7 are the two main entry points for enrolment. We encourage you to complete an application well in advance of your desired admission year.

It is recommended that applications are received at least 3 years in advance for Year 7, and at least 2 years in advance for Kindergarten.

Late applications will still be considered if numbers allow, or changes occur within current enrolments.

Upon completion and return of the enrolment application, and payment of the application fee of $130, students are placed on a prospective future students’ list.

Prospective students not born in Australia, are required to provide proof of their Australian citizenship/residency or visa details.

This enrolment procedure must be followed for each child in the family wishing to secure a place.

Not all visas are accepted at Newman College.

Although Catholic students are prioritised for placement, students of other religious denominations are also considered and it is subject to availability, as per the College’s Enrolment Policy.

College Tours are held several times a term across all campuses and are advertised on the College website. Click here for the current tour schedule.

After interviews, families may be offered a place for their child. Following an offer, a period of five weeks is granted to accept the position and make payment of the enrolment deposit for the first sibling. This will secure your child’s future place.

If you decline your offer (but not wishing to cancel your child’s application), we will keep your child on our waiting list for the following intake year while retaining their original application date.

Newman College has no formal feeder primary schools. We accept students from many different schools. Geographical location or proximity to the College is not an enrolment priority or criteria, however attending a Catholic Primary school is an enrolment priority.

Having a sibling at the College or a parent who attended the College will give your child priority on the waiting list, but it does not always guarantee a place.

Due to the changing nature of waiting lists, we do not advise of a child’s actual position at any point in time. The College will keep in contact with you should your child be in a position to proceed with enrolment.

The College does not offer academic, spiritual, cultural or sporting scholarships; however, we do offer an Aboriginal Bursary Program. For more information regarding this program, please contact the Registrar.

We also offer music scholarships for a variety of musical instruments which covers the cost of lessons.

The College also offers concessions to holders of eligible Health Care Cards (HCC) and Pensioner Concession Cards.

For more information regarding fees, charges and concessions, please contact the Finance Officer, Brenda McNutt at 9204 9414 or brenda.mcnutt@newman.wa.edu.au

No, Newman College is not an academically selective school.

Yes, we require individual information and an application fee for each of your children.

When you enrol your child in our Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten you will need to provide your child’s current Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement, which shows your child is ‘up to date’ with all the scheduled immunisations (according to the National Immunisation Program) for their age. This Statement must be no more than two months old.

Without an up-to-date immunisation history or an exemption, children cannot be enrolled at Newman College.
