Sport Centre and Gym

The Newman College Sports Centre is a multi-purpose facility used by the College and the wider College community. The complex comprises a large indoor stadium that hosts two netball or basketball courts, with an elevated spectator viewing area. A large multipurpose Function space, 4 independent change rooms, and two well-appointed meeting spaces enhance the flexibility of this area. Sports undertaken in this Sports Centre include basketball, volleyball, netball, badminton, floorball, indoor football and more.

Ovals and Playing Fields

Newman College is blessed with immaculately maintained playing fields. The fields are used for a variety of sports such as AFL, Cricket, Hockey, and Soccer. The College also provides numerous outdoor Netball and Basketball courts, Tennis courts and Cricket nets.The College takes full advantage of these wonderful facilities for our PE, Sport and Outdoor Education programs.

College Heated Pool

The College’s 50 metre, 8 lane, heated outdoor swimming pool, is accessible year-round. The large shaded spectator area allows for carnivals and swim meets to be held at the College, with ample parking supporting the experience of swimmers and their supporters.

The pool area includes a well-equipped weights room, multipurpose indoor training room and 2 large change rooms

The Pool is used regularly during Physical Education, Outdoor Education and School Swimming Carnivals. It is also the ‘home’ pool of the Newman Churchlands Swimming Club and the Newman Water Polo Players Association.

Newman Sports Association

Unique to Newman College is our connection to local community sports clubs.  The College resides over the Newman Sports Association, which is comprised of Eight (8) community clubs that are housed at Newman College. These Clubs are:

  • The Marist Football Club
  • The Subiaco Marist Cricket Club
  • The Newman Knights Hockey Club
  • The Newman Siena Netball Club
  • The Newman Junior Netball Club
  • The Newman Holy Rosary Raiders Basketball Club
  • The Newman Water Polo Players Association
  • The Newman Churchlands Swimming Club

The clubs are community based, inviting participation not only from Newman College students, surrounding schools and past students, but also from the wider community.

The College and the Association believe in the philosophy of sharing facilities and making full use of them.

We encourage students at Newman College and those of surrounding schools to play for clubs within the Newman Sports Association.
