Student Art Show

On Wednesday 10 October, our three-day Arts Festival began with the opening of the Student Art Show.  It was wonderful to see our families coming together to enjoy a joyous expression of our students’ creative energies. The best works from students across K-Y12 was on display along with craft activities, giant games, Music performances, Silent Statues, Performance Art, face painting and a delicious sausage sizzle!

In addition, throughout the evening artists young and old wrote a hopeful message which was hung on strings to form a heart. Hope Filled Hearts was an installation designed by Coordinator of Drama Miss Bethwyn Legg to inspire a community collaboration of art making centered around our Marist theme of Hope.

We were delighted to have our 2018 Artist in Residence Andy Quilty present on the evening who spoke about the highlights of the program and shared his wealth of knowledge to inspire our students to take risks with their work. Families also had the opportunity to view and purchase a number of pieces of work by Andy.

Congratulations to all students who received an award for both Visual Art and Digital Technologies. It was fantastic to celebrate this new generation of artists. A key element of the Arts Festival’s mission is to promote exposure to art and art education to the youth in our community. Please view the list of award winners here Student Art Awards

World Children’s Day Free Dress Day

The World Children’s Day Free Dress Mission fundraiser will be held on Wednesday 17 October. All students in PP-Y6 may wear free dress for a $2 coin donation. Appropriate footwear and sun smart hats are still required on this day. Money raised will go to http://www.catholicmission.org.au/about-us/history/childrens-mission

Christmas Celebration Evening

On Wednesday 28 November, families are invited to attend the annual Christmas Celebration for the Primary School being held on the Marcellin Oval. All Primary School students from K-6 will be involved. Pre Kindy families are also very welcome to attend however the children will not be performing on the night.

In keeping with the College’s compliance with Duty of Care and Risk Mitigation parents please be aware that this function is an alcohol free event.

Schedule

5.00pm – Families are encouraged to bring along blankets and a picnic dinner. Any deck chairs will need to be on the periphery of the area so as not to impede the vision for other families.
5.45pm – All students are to be at the oval and assemble in their designated class areas with their teachers.
6.00pm – Christmas Carols lead by year level units
7.00pm – Santa
7.15pm – Evening Concludes and parents collect their children from class teachers

Student Dress Requirements

Students in K-6 are to wear jeans, white T-shirt with tinsel halo (Red, Green, Gold or Silver) closed in shoes.

Parking

Please park in the car parks around the College, including the Marcellin Campus car parks. There is some street parking on surrounding roads, but please adhere to the parking signs.
The Lavalla Staff car park will be used by the College staff. Parents are asked not to park in this area.

2019 Pre Kindergarten Parent Orientation

We invite Pre Kindergarten parents to join us for a Parent Information Session on Monday 26 November in the Library.

The session will commence at 9.00am and conclude at 10.00am. Orientation packs will be provided during this session.
