IPSHA Swimming Carnival

Last Thursday Newman hosted the IPSHA Swimming carnival competing against All Saints, John XXII and Loreto Nedlands. It was very pleasing to see a number of fantastic results on the day. The highlight and final event of the day was a combined relay with the top 2 swimmers from Year 4-6, Newman won this relay race showing how competitive we were in each year group on the day.

Well done to all swimmers in the Newman College Swim Team, thank you for your wonderful attitudes and team spirit at the carnival.

ACC Swimming Carnival Recap

The College had a fantastic result in Wednesday’s A Division ACC Swimming Carnival, finishing 4th overall at HBF Stadium. All swimmers gave their absolute all, with most recording personal best times. Although we do have our share of individual superstars, it was the depth of our relay squads (Division 1 and 2) which ensured such a successful outcome.

NAS Senior Carnival

Last Friday our senior teams competed in the inaugural One Day Summer NAS Carnival at various venues around Perth. Our Basketballers, Volleyballers, Touch Rugby and Girls AFLW players battled hard against the 4 other NAS schools in a round robin format in challenging 38 degree temperatures. There was plenty of exciting and challenging competition throughout, with many pleasing results. Congratulations to our Senior Boys and Girls AFLW teams for winning premierships and special mention to Senior Girls Basketball and Boys/Girls Touch Rugby for being runners up. Big thank you to all coaches, umpires, players, the ACC and opposition Schools for making the day such a success!

Good luck to all Year 7-10 NAS Sporting teams competing in next week’s finals. All players should check in on their SEQTA Team Forum to review fixtures and confirm their availability.

Individual Accomplishments

Congratulations to all the Year 2 students from Newman College who have just come first in their Tball division.

  • Congratulations to Year 7 Student Oliver Wikstrom and the Scarborough boys U13’s Tennis Club Who were victorious at last Sunday’s Pennants Finals Competition! Working their way through singles and doubles matches competing against fierce competition (in some rounds much older than them!)It got down to a nail biter doubles tie breaker at the end of the competition, fortunately the Scarborough boys U13’s were triumphant! Oliver has been playing tennis for 6 years prefers playing singles – we cannot wait to follow this young athlete on his sporting journey and wish him luck for the NAS competition in Term 2.Oliver Wikstrom Newman College
