REMAR Embarkation Camp

The Year 11 Blue and Year 12 Gold Embarkation Camp is a three-day retreat held at Serpentine Camp Centre. The two programs are held in conjunction in order to facilitate peer support, role modelling and community formation.

For the Year 11 Blue Caravel, it provides an opportunity to review the Red Crossing, informs the rowers of the expectations of the Blue Crossing and focuses on what it might mean to ‘live as Christ’s disciples’. As such, there is a strong focus on the development of a personal faith commitment.

The Gold Embarkation Program, provides an opportunity to review the Blue Crossing, informs the rowers of the expectations of the Gold Crossing and focuses on what it means to “be a witness in my community”. The camp seeks to form a supportive and committed group who will see the journey through.

At the end of the camp, the Blue and Gold rowers are given the opportunity to decide whether they wish to continue with the Caravel Crossing in 2019. Those who wish to continue will affirm their commitment to their Caravel.

PK-12 Family Mass

All Newman College families are invited to join together in celebrating the PK-12 College Family Mass which will be celebrated by Father Joseph Tran. Our identity as a Catholic school is inspired by the charism of Saint Marcellin Champagnat, and our Marist educational tradition invites all members of this College community to a deeper commitment and understanding of what it means to actively live the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As part of this significant College event, the Year 6 and Year 12 student leaders will be officially commissioned. It is the expectation that all students between Pre Primary to Year 12 attend the Family Mass

This Mass is an integral part of College life as we seek to celebrate our Christian story and our College theme this year, consistent with other Marist Schools nationally, “We are called to be Holy by living our lives with love and by bearing witness today”.
