Year 10
Subject selection for Year 11, 2024
Year 10 students are now engaged in the process of researching their subjects for Year 11, 2024. All Year 10 students have been provided with a guided research booklet which will assist them in selecting their subjects.
Parents / guardians can access the Year 11 subject information here: https://handbook.newman.wa.edu.au/
Student eligibility for Year 11 subjects will be based on their Year 10, Semester 1 reports. Year 10 students should use the time before the upcoming examinations to set their goals and seek the necessary assistance to ensure that they meet the prerequisites for their desired Year 11 subjects.
Families are also reminded that the Year 10 Parent Evening / Careers Expo will occur on Wednesday 21 June from 5.00pm to 6.30pm. At this evening, families and students will have the opportunity to explore different careers and also be provided with information regarding subject selection for 2024.
Year 11
Subject changes
If you would like to change one (or more) of your subjects, please be aware that you must wait until after the Semester 1 exams. You will also need permission from the relevant Leader of Learning to change into a new subject.
After the exams, you are welcome to see Mr Farley or Mrs Ellam with subject change requests.

Applying to University for 2024
Applying using Early Offers
Please note that there are two ways to apply to University for 2024. One way is via an Early Offer, using the details below. The second way is via the regular TISC process. Both of these pathways are currently open to students.
You can obtain a place at University using either method. University courses will not ‘fill up’ with Early Offer students.
In Week 7, Mr Farley will present to all Year 12 students outlining the process for applying to University. There is no rush to apply and you will not miss out if you wait for a little while.
Please see below the terminology guide for Early Offers:
- Conditional offer: your offer to study at that University is conditional on achieving the ATAR for that degree, meeting English Language Competency requirements, and meeting any subject prerequisites for your chosen degree.
- Unconditional Offer: your final ATAR can be below the ATAR required for your chosen degree. You still need to complete your WACE, achieve a final ATAR, meet English Language Competency requirements, and meet any subject prerequisites for your chosen degree.
University | Early Offer summary |
Curtin University | Opens on Monday 1 May 2023. You apply for a Curtin Early Offer by using TISC and listing your desired Curtin degree as your first preference. Curtin will use your Year 11 results to generate a predicted ATAR. If your predicted ATAR is five points above the required ATAR for your degree, you will receive an unconditional offer. If your predicted ATAR is less than five points above the required ATAR for your degree, you will receive a conditional offer. Full information at: https://www.curtin.edu.au/study/undergraduate/early-offers/ |
Edith Cowan University (ECU) | Opens on Monday 1 May 2023. You apply for an ECU Early Offer by using TISC and listing your desired ECU degree as your first preference. Open to students doing ATAR, UniReady, or Certificate IV this year. If your predicted ATAR from Year 11 meets or exceeds the requirements for your chosen degree, you will receive an unconditional offer. If you don’t have a predicted ATAR, or your predicted ATAR is too low, or you are doing UniReady/Certificate IV, you can get a conditional offer. Full information at: https://www.ecu.edu.au/degrees/early-offer-program |
Murdoch University | Applications open 1 May 2023. Apply using TISC, and enter your predicted ATAR or confirm that you are currently enrolled in UniReady / Certificate IV. Full details at https://www.murdoch.edu.au/study/how-to-apply/year-12-early-offer-program |

Offers might be conditional or unconditional, depending on each student’s situation. Full details at: https://www.notredame.edu.au/study/early-offer/early-offer |
University of WA (UWA) | Unconditional offer if your predicted ATAR has met or exceeded the entry requirements for your chosen course. Students who do not achieve the predicted ATAR required for their degree may receive a conditional offer for their degree. A wide range of degrees available for Early Offers (check the website). Includes Assured Pathways to Law, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Public Health, Teaching and Translation Studies. Excludes Assured Pathways to Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy or Podiatry. Applying to University using TISC
TISC is the ‘normal’ way to apply to University. TISC applications are also open. Year 12 students have been provided with their login details via the Year 12 Team. Later in the term, all Year 12 students will have the TISC process explained in further detail.
