Newman News Term 4 Week 9: From the Leader of Early Childhood

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our Marian families for the support that they have provided their children throughout 2021. We know that families are the first, and most important educators in our students lives. As Teachers, we can only do our job well, with the ongoing support and partnership of our families. To this end, we are so fortunate to have a wonderful, supportive body of parents who are always willing to lend a hand and participate in school life.

From reading each night with your child, attending excursions, volunteering to assist in the classroom, being a library helper or attending your child’s assembly or liturgy – we thank you! Your commitment and dedication make our roles so much easier and continues to foster the positive and nurturing environment that we strive to create.

I hope all our families have a safe, restful, and joyous Christmas break. I know I am personally looking forward to some lazy mornings, days at the beach and board game afternoons with my own children (not to mention not having to make school lunches for many weeks too!).

Merry Christmas! I look forward to seeing many happy faces and families when we return on Monday 31 January 2022.

Year 2 Assembly

Our Year 2 students presented a beautiful assembly to commemorate their time at the Marian Campus over the past 5 years. Thank you for sharing all your wonderful memories with us. The learning and growth, along with Marian spirit, that these students have experienced during their early childhood years, will continue to be fostered as they transition to the upper primary years at our Lavalla Campus.

Marian Water Fun Day

After a very busy 2022, we celebrated the end of the school year with a fun-filled water fun day. The children had lots of smiles and giggles as they enjoyed their time on the inflatable water slides.

We wish all families a very joyous and restful Christmas period and look forward to your return in 2022.

Pre-Primary Christmas Nativity

The true spirit of Christmas was reflected in the moving liturgical celebration by our Pre-Primary students. As the students retold and dramatised the Nativity, we were called to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.

A big thank you is extended to Katie Houlahan and baby Scarlett, who participated and gave life to the role of baby Jesus.

Transition Day

Thank you to the many parents who contacted me to provide positive feedback around the new transition afternoon that we implemented this year. Our teaching staff were very excited to meet with and welcome their 2022 class of students, and there are many excited children around the campus, who excitedly talk about their ‘new teacher’.

Booklists

In 2022, both Lavalla and Marian Campuses will not have a student booklist. Teachers will provision the resources for their class via the College’s internal ordering system.
